We have a line on going to Jackson Hole for Spring Break the last week in March. Husband and 11 year old son can ski blacks although I would have trouble with a seriously steep black mogul run. The 11 year old less so, but would probably flip out just the same. My wife is more of a lower level Blue skier (she still wedges and goes slowly), which freaks out the 11 year old. We were wondering what the group's advice would be. One of my office colleagues, who is a very good skier (but no longer skis because of stenosis) says he didn't enjoy Jackson Hole because it was way too severe even by his standards. He was there several years ago. The trail map and the stats (60% expert, I believe) look a bit daunting, in keeping with its reputation.
We went to Telluride before Christmas and loved it but it looks like we might be able to go to Jackson Hole for less money and the 11 year old (who did a school project on Wyoming) would love to see it and visit new areas. Mostly, we have skied in Steamboat (the 11 year old started there when he was two), some in Lake Tahoe area, and, of course, for where we live, Wisconsin.
Any thoughts or more generally thoughts on Spring skiing locations with decent snow and airfare from Chicago?
