Hinging Q

Isnt edge locked carving HINGING? Skis are passing through the same groove in the snow and tipping/hinging progressively back and forth? Why is the word Hinging not used much?

A hinge is a device on a door that lets it swing.  Hinging is a verb taken from the device and usually means to depend upon or to swing from.  Not quite the same meaning.

Never heard of it until now. Where is it a popular term for what we call edge lock carving?

I have seen it used to describe how the ski tips back and forth in a groove. Since you guys dont know about it I guess its not widely used.
