Guys, Never been to Utah, have a 2 day trip coming up. Looking for a place with waste deep powder and super steep terrain. Could someone suggest a place reasonably located? Flying into SLC Thanks!

Going this weekend?

Alta/Snowbird easy. But if you want some trees and more of a resort feel, I would recomend The Canyons.

more resort feel =

tons of short small shots
worse snow
more groomers
more bumps
a crappy gondola to get to a real gondola
gaper going out of bounds right from the lift with no clue on what they are doing

yep canyons rocks go there!

I would say LCC, BCC, and snowbasin. But contrary to popular myth not everyday is a waist deep powder day. Especially this season.

The canyons is sort of a disaster. But I will say this for them, the tree skiing is a bit better there than in LCC. AS for the resort atmosphere... hahaha bushie nailed it.

Every place has challenging terrain but for sheer snow quality, quantity (its pretty deep now at Alta-Snowbird now - was at Alta yesterday) and its going to snow again this weekend, not sure any place can compare to Alta or Snowbird. It was 34 deg on the thermometer, but felt like 55 degs at Alta, beautiful sunny day, the two previous days, a ton of snow, tough on visibility though. Few friends went to the Canyons and Park City a few days ago, Park city has grooming galore and did not say much about Canyons.

Alta and Snowbird have a ton of challenging terrain, some wind-swept tough spots but a lot of powder, thigh deep for sure and more.

I stand by my comment. AS for resort feel, while The Canyons is no Aspen, you can stay in Park city for more of a resort feel, and Deer valley and the Park City Resort are close by. While trees in LCC aren't bad, skiing magazine puts Canyons trees 5th in North America, with Alta/Snowbird behind it.

At the end of the day I would choose Alta/Snowbird, but its something to keep in mind.
