Sorry, but my pictures from the weekend are only in my head. Saturdays first run took me under the lift, over to Hollywood bowl & then a left turn over Rock Star ridge to Janis's & onto FTS for what was up to that point, the best run of the season. At about 3:00 PM that afternoon my patience paid off when gate 3 on No Name opened right in front of me. I went straight for my favorite line on the mountain & the only track below me was from a small snowball that gravity had taken down the falline to the gully below. I swear I reached a euphoric state on that run that will last in my memory for some time to come. Alas, on my return trip at about 3:20 PM, gate 2 opened & I got another phenominal run about 2 lines to the north from higher up & then over the ridge to the lower pyramid.
Sunday morning I found myself of the 2nd chair up John Paul for a 2.5 minute flight down through the faster more settled, refurbished snow to meet my clients for the day. The nice couple from Sun Valley & I spent the morning finding our way through the low visibility at the top of Strawberry to more glorious untracked lower on the mountain.
Sadly, the day ended on a tragic note when a skier paid the ultimate price outside the ski area boundary. From the Utah Avalanche Center:
Backcountry conditions are very fragile at this time. Everyone please be safe!
