From the 7th thru the 12th I’ll be staying in some fancy digs near the Golden Peak lift with my mob from the Miami Ski Club. (Yes I know, I know. The place where our consuming passion is referred to as “snow skiing,” and where I must explain that my Snowbird tee shirt does not imply that I’m a seasonal visitor from Brooklyn.)
The Florida gang is pretty friendly. I try and make a few runs with anyone who cares for a bit of my company, but tend to hang mostly with a small group of the more aggressive types. Any wandering Bears are free to join up for a run, a day, or a bit of après refreshment Of course, any of my old Bear compadres that show up will command my attention, (I have been known to ditch all but the hardiest of my home grown crew on occasion,) and I’d be glad to spend as much time with you as you can stand.
The Miami Mafia heads home on the 13th, so I’ll move to much humbler accommodations and be solo until my son arrives late on the 14th, then we’ll ski thru the 19th.
The Kid is 16, and would be delighted to meet some skiers/boarders near his age. We've got some friends in the area, but are always open to making more.
We've spent a fair amount of time skiing at Vail, and would be happy to show any visiting/wandering Bears around a bit. Of course, we'd be equally glad to learn some more about the place from any locals.
One caveat; I would love to arrange for my son to take a private lesson with fellow Bear, VailSnowPro. Should this come to pass, then I will join them for the day, and not be free-skiing.
We may have reliable Internet access at our digs, but if anyone knows that they’ll be around and would care to hook up, let me know prior to my departure on the 6th and I'll send along my cell phone number via PM. Otherwise, I’ll just check the forum and make connections on the fly.
We almost always hit the lifts as soon as they open, and ski until closing time. Should be easy to arrange meeting time & place. (Powder days the rules change a bit. Waiting time for stragglers is then cut to 30 seconds.)
