I wasn't in Cortina, and I doubt I will see Tanja or anyone else from Finnish women team until finals in Garmisch, but based on talk I had with Finnish head coach week ago in Maribor, it was just a question of time (and luck, since she had plenty of bad luck lately) when she will be back on winning track. So I don't think skis are all that different, but they add some extra mental power.
I remember few years ago, when Fischer came out with hole skis, and all of a sudden there were few guys skiing A LOT better. One of them was one of Slovenians, who was far from bad before, but was struggling that season. After he got new skis, all of a sudden he was constantly in top 10 instead of previous 25-30. When I was talking with him about this next season, he admitted, he needed something to move his thinking to different level, and new skis were obviously good enough reason, to change this, but in reality they were not much different then old ones. But sometimes you need some sort of push, and things are different after that. And if "excuse" for this is new skis, it's fine with me :)
