I'm guessing it to mean "to sideslip (inglouriously) down/across/whatever a double-black (or higher-consequence) run, either as a survival method, or to set-up for a better shot at actual skiing."
Is this correct? Please correct me.
That's true I've got ten pair of skis that I REALLY like. I'll be lucky to get time on five of them this season. A rocker would certainly be fun for a powdercats day or heliskiing. I bought some 999s over the summer just because it was a screamin' deal, 200 with PX 12s on them ready to go. I figured maybe someday in a couple of years I might get in a powder day. BAM! big storm hit the mid atlantic THIS season and for the 19 inches of fresh I got in to (I mean on to) my 999s were awesome. Before I found a pair I could afford I was anti-fat. Now I am in the "nice to have once in a blue moon" fat camp.
Finn.. I'm just throwing out my cranky old man vibes. You are my gear Hero (er umm Ho-ro). I'll eventually get around to trying some on suitable terrain in a few years (think I said that about fat skis last year) Go get them, you've got the ski bandwidth to try them out and move them on to someone else if you don't like them
