Epic people give you a chance to be part of the group. I started here not really aware of how things typed come off as thoughts on the net. I am a bit full of my own ideas, partly due to a lot of experience, and came off rude and arrogant at times. People backed off for a while. I'm slow, but I got it, and have gradually become tolerable to read. Some folks here totally recognized the effort to be less of a dick and have posted on a thread or two of mine and completely normalized interaction. Nice. Thanks.

Davluri -- two good posts (# 109 and 125) IMO.  Not to detract from them, but they were somewhat inconsistent.  In #109, you said that people are rude not because they are inexperienced, unaware, or slow, but because they were simply a**holes -- and in #125 you confess to past rudeness and ascribe it to lack of awareness and being slow.   

My own view of human nature is that it's more like both your posts combined:

(a)  some people are rude because, as you noted, they are just a**holes (the guy who cuts you off in traffic);

(b)  some are unintentionally rude because they can't help it or are caught up in their own circumstances (the 85 year old lady who cuts you off in the supermarket line);

(c)  some people are unintentionally rude because they are inexperienced (my 9 year old daughter who cut in front of several snowboarders at the terrain park because she thought they were "just resting" at the top).

As usual, just my $.02....

If you think being a gaper has anything at all to do with skill level or certain clothes, you are most likely a huge gaper. Gaper is a state of mind.

I still have the jacket O.B. but I can't button it anymore!
Check out the Gogs,Bouton firefighting goggles,it was a hot/dirty job but somebody had to do it.
Pete that was a homemade neck gator/hat.So yes everyone was a Gaper at one time or another. Even Jer.
Skiing was sooooo much simpler then. 1978?

The rule of thumb is...if you're not Jer, you're a gaper.
