Giro G9 helmet: looking for compatible goggle recommendations

Hi,

Just ordered a Giro G9 helmet (after trying different models ad finding this one the best fitting and lightest).

My older Uvex goggles seem to fit +/- , so I am looking for some recommendations from useres for goggles that would be most fitted for this helmet.

Thx a lot and happy skiing (it was a great day at Le Massif today: excellent hardpack, no one on the slopes because a little chilly...)

Was considering Adidas Yodais that get very good reviews (in Austria and Germany, always thorough testers...)

Try bringing your helmet to a shop and try on some stuff. I have some of the Giro Station Goggles with my Giro Seam helmet an the fit is great.

I have always had good luck with Smith goggles (Fuse, Phemon, etc) with my Giro helmets, but everyone's face is different.  Most (but not all) goggles today are designed to work well with helmets.

Bring your helmet to a shop and try some different models and brands on.  There is nothing worse than gaper gap on a really gold day.

I went on the Giro site and they had recommendations for which goggles went with which helmets last year.  I did this after having to return three pairs of goggles of other brands across the internet because they just didn't fit either my face or the helmet.

I had that helmet and returned it.  I couldn't get ANYTHING to work with it.  Good luck to you.

I have a Giro "Nine" helmet from a few years back. Not sure if the "G9" has the same forehead cut-out profile or not. In any event, the Scott Storm (OTG) goggle fits my "Nine" perfectly - like they were made to go together.

The Zeal Link will also fit this helmet.  Basically you need a goggle with a fairly "flat" top edge.  Goggles that have a bit of a curve will end up leaving you with gaper gap.

fwiw, I bought a G10 this season and a pair of Oakley Crowbars. Fit is perfect, no gaps.

Giro look to make decent goggles though, so I'm inclined to try a pair of theirs for my backup. I got a great deal on the Crowbars and could not say no. I'm wearing my old Smiths in the pic, have to change that soon!

Follow up: bought some Giro Station Goggles last summer.

Giro recommends these to goperfectly with the G9 helmet.

But: no luck, still have 'the gap' between helmet and goggles, and these fog up (luckily I kept my 10 year old Uvex goggles).

Can't recommend Giro goggles....

Never toss 'em unless they're broke.

FWIW, I stepped up to the Smith IO this year. The Crowbars are fine for Ontario - stable weather or snow. But fro western low pressure they were useless. I was skiing the bowls blind during that wonderful last week of March at Whistler last season. Switched to the 7 year old goggles I'm wearing in my pic and was fine. Well, I could see again! My skiing improved slightly too but i looked like any Ontario guy in deep powder for the first time -- sweating, staggering and smiling biggrin.gif!

I have had that helmet for 5 seasons-and anything Smith works for me-but try them on with the helmet first (duh)
