Max Capacity, broken

Hi guy's, I been away for a short time. Dec 19th I fell at Okemo and broke my left collar bone in 4 places. A buddy said the x-ray looked like a train wreck. 3 bone pieces at 45* angles to the normal direction.

I had surgery Wed before Xmas. The next morning the pain was almost all gone. I could let the arm hang at my side with no pain. Tuesday, if I didn't support the lower arm, there was a great amount of pain.

My GF has been taking great care of me since the night of the surgery. I have been off the pain meds since last Thursday night Dec31st. Going to see my Dr tomorrow and see what he say's. He's the same guy that repaired my right knee 10 years ago, after his first assessment of that injury was, you may never ski again, I told him that wasn't a option. The guy is pretty good.

I hope to be back on skis mid Feb. My plan is to be back doing my Ambassador duty's at Okemo the end of this month, well at least I can do some non skiing duty's.

Max

Don't worry Phil, I haven't skied the new AC30's yet, this was on my AC40's.

Sorry to hear that story!    I hope your healing process is snag free and that you're able to enjoy at least the second half of the season.  Heal fast!

 Hang in there, time passes.

Hi Doug, thanks for being there. How long was I out ? It seemed like the sled got there quickly. Glad it happened close to the top of the Solitude lift, Ski Patrol must have been in the shack at the top of the lift.

Wow, so sorry to hear this news.  Glad the pain is falling off and that you are on the mend.  Take care of yourself.

 Speedy recovery to you!

Oh Man!  That sux!

Glad you're on the mend and will salvage some of your ski season.

How are the skis?

Max,

Ski patrol did get there pretty quickly all things considered. You kind've went in and out a couple of times but only for short periods. Glad your surgery went well and that you hope to get back soon albeit not at 100%.

Trekchik - If he had been on his new AC30's, they and his nice new yellow POC helmet would be in my quiver now.

Dr say's I can go back to work tomorrow. I see him again in 3 weeks. He put a plate and 7 screws in. Once he feels the scar tissue begins to form bone, he'll give me the ok to ski.

Thanks, everyone.

Skis are fine, I saw them over the weekend. Recovery is going good, planning to go with my fellow Ambassadors to Steamboat the first week in March.

The reason I broke the bone is because I fell about 6ft from the bottom of a compression. Being 6ft tall and falling forward, drives me into the compression. I didn't slide, just drove in. I normally slide when I fall.

Well, I'm healing fine. Dr say's he wants me to wait until the full 8 weeks from Dec 23rd surgery before he lets me ski. There will be no physical therapy required as I have great range of motion. So I'll be back on skis a few day's before the trip to Steamboat Feb 28th to Mar 7th.

BTW, I have a plate and 7 screws well be in there for a long time as long as it doesn't bother me.

Remember I have the yellow POC helmet. As far as I know, I have the only one, it's custom painted.
