Simply put I have skied Hellbents, Bentchentler, and other full on reverse reverse boards. These are not quite up to those skis powder performance but the katana is so much easier to ski everywhere especially in tight powder filled trees that its makes no sense at all on the east coast to get any powder ski that doesnt have rocker of some sort.
My thugs can bust on top wind drifts but kinda of get slowed down, these katanas despite being narrower and shorter actually accelerate though hard wind slabed snow. The katanas just goes where you point it no matter what. There is nothing you need to change in your technique at all off trail. Littlest bit of soft packed snow to the deepest powder dumps to slush, to soft groomers, to bumps and the skis will cut it, float it and slarve it all the same.
the ski feels like its 2 feet long in trees but yet in soft snow doesnt ever get unstable. You feel little skittish while trying to ski groomers fast especailly if there is true ice on them.
simply put if your getting a storm day ski for the east coast and dont get a rockered skis your being kinda of limiting and alittle stupid. anyone would appreciate whats this ski can do in trees. Its is simply put the easiest ski to ski I have ever been on.
Rocker has come full circle all mountain powder skis should no longer have camber there I said it.
