Has anyone done any work with this organization at Winter Park?

They have a volunteer instructor program and I am interested in participating. I was wondering if anyone had participated in it as a volunteer and they could relay their experience.

MFO,
I have not worked for the NSCD but know a # of people that have and have loved it.

I have and still do work for a similar program in the east, The White Mountain Adaptive Ski School at Loon Mountain, and must say that the experiance is eye opening and a thrill at the same time. Working in a program of this nature will give you a chance to make a differance in the lives of others, not to mention a chance to improve your skiing and teaching. It will also give you a chance to meet tons of others who have a love for the same sport that you do.

Best of luck, and I would say GO FOR IT!!

Cheers Tim

I was pretty heavily involved in the adaptive program in OZ some time back and found the experience lots of fun and "soul rewarding".

With Winter Park, being relatively close to Vail, I am planning to make some time to participate.

I have been with the program for the past 6 seasons. I really enjoy my time there. The program is very large and offers alot of oppertunity. I started teaching stand up skiing to physically disabled kids. I did that for a year, and then I moved on to the sit ski program. I like teaching sit-ski better. I suits my personality more, more equipment knowlege and skiing ability are required. I do know that they are still looking for more volunteers, since the passes have gotten so cheap in Colorado, there numbers have really dwindled.
