Hey there,

I'm returning to the sport of skiing after a 15 year hiatus.
I used to ski diamonds and occasionally double diamonds, so I KNEW how to use the equipment and muscles I had then...

I have gained 75 pounds (260lbs now--muscular build but heavy) since the last trip I made.... and have been out of the realm, and unfortunately, do not really know what to look for with all the bells and whistles available today. I plan on skiing intermediate hills for now throughout New England, as I am also working against a back and neck injury--though I have been cleared to ski, and also have two children that I plan on teaching to ski over the next couple years.

I did my research and recently got a really good deal on a gently used set of Atomic R11 with Atomic 412 Bindings. So now I'm in the market for a set of boots-- and I don't know where to go with it.

I'm a size 11 wide in shoes--also narrow heel, semi-flat footed, but very well defined muscular calf. According to the Mondo Conversion Chart, I should be a size 29. I don't know if I should be looking for a 29.5 to account for the wider foot size though. Also other suggestions have been to come down a size to account for a snug fit.

In terms of brand names, what is a good price/brand point to get a solid quality product? And any suggestions on buying pre-owned boots vs. new boots?

I'm also going to post this in the boot forum for feedback.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!
