Nah - he wasn't having fun. [img]tongue.gif[/img] He was just doing hockey slip exercises for his L3 exam (ie, as per recent discussions of this on EpicSki).
In all seriousness, tho, I think the photographer was asking him to try to throw up nice roostertails for the camera.
Look at how high his skis are riding in the snow. This isn't deep pow at all, & I think he is intentionally doing serious braking to get the snow to fly, so that comments about using this much banking in (real) turns don't apply here cuz IMHO, it ain't a real turn - its a fake posed situation.

PS (many days later, in edit) - Anybody seriously think this isn't a staged shot? Then, if it was a set-up, what sort of instructions do you think the photographer gave the model - ski as smoothly as possible, or throw up as much snow as possible?
