My helmet cam footage from yesterday, 12.30.09.  It's been a great December this year.

Just some tree skiing at Kirkwood.  Hope you enjoy.

Looks like you've got some snow. Love the natural halfpipey thing. I think you need to come and meet some eastern hardwoods sometime though.

^^ I love tight eastern woods.  I grew up in the Northeast and spent time at Stowe, Sugarbush, Jay, etc.  Been a long time though.

"Tree Skiing" probably wasn't the best title for this video.

Not that there's anything wrong with that. I was watching the video though and thinking "OK, there are trees...".

What cam are you using, and to what is it attached? (helmet ?)

Cool video by the way. Although the turning and escaping the tree looked more like a First Person Shooter game than skiing, not that that is a bad thing ;)

thanks

I'm using last years VIO POV 1.0 (there's now a 1.5 I believe that has some updated firmware).  And it's mounted to my goggle strap via a goggle mount thing that they supply...it's basically just some velcro straps that run around your goggle strap to secure the head unit to it.   I like it enough for my purposes...the only thing I don't like is the dealing with the cable wrapping from the cable down to the recording unit that I keep stashed in a jacket pocket, but I don't feel like splurging on one of the totally self-contained units this year (like a Contour HD or something).

Glad you like the vid.  I would have been up there today shooting more, but the power generators at Kirkwood burned to the ground yesterday and they might not open today  :(  http://www.kcra.com/news/22106707/detail.html

Damn I need to move out west!

Ron, nice video.  That really flattens out the appearance of those line.

Power is back.  I'll be up to grab some samples and kick-off some cleanup.  Will be taking the skis.

Wow. That looks like fun. I'm heading to Tahoe in 3 weeks, and was thinking about going to Kirkwood. Still - I think I's rather follow somebodies tracks than blindly head into trees not knowing what's on the other side, like a cliff!

very sweet lines, I like your lines through the rocked areas at the end . Nice.....  Lunch time stoke.

Nice footage. Did you shoot this out in Sentinel Bowl? (Edit: I was asking about the first sequence of the vid)

The first line was out in Palisades.  Not as far out as the furthest sign line/boundary, but I just dropped in off the traverse below the Palisades rock band.
