Watea 84 in a 184.... confirming too big?

I am looking to pick up some Watea 84's as soft snow/western resort ski for non-powder days and am caught between the 176 and 184. I am 5'11/6'0 and weigh about 185lbs in shorts/no shoes.  I am leaning towards the 176 for quickness and it seemingly being the right length based upon anecdotal experience of others. However, it is a real pain finding a good deal on last year's 176's right now, but I did find a handful of deals on 184's.  I am wondering how much of a step up the 184's are vs. the 176's. On some ski models, I've barely noticed the difference in one size up and on others it has been a substantial change. I ski a bit of everything (when the legs are fresh)... steeps, bumps, trees are all on the menu. But I enjoy groomers too especially when the knees ache and the muscles are sore, which seems to be a larger percentage of the day now.

I think Tramdock and SAC had killer deals on the Watea 84's in the last month or so, but it appears I missed out since I have not seen them pop up recently... who knows though since I can't sit there and watch them every second of the day.

Tramdock had some 84's at 176 and 184 for $199 the other day.  I agree that is a killer deal.  Who knows if that comes back around?  I picked up a pair for $299 at o2gear three months ago.  Yikes! they are $429 at o2 right now.

Watea 94 is up on Tramdock right now... I got excited when I saw the image from across the room on my screen, but then quickly realized it wasn't the 84. Bummer.

I bought a pair of 184's, a couple of summers ago from Sierra.  I am 6'1" 185ish.  My first season they felt too long, but more a reflection of where I was as a skier.  This season, they feel perfect, I ski mostly bumps and some trees (if well spaced ;) ) and they never feel too long.
In my opinion they are a a great everyday ski for where I am Big White .

First off, you probably don't want to post your e-mail out in the open unless you like spam.  Second, if you have a Mac, get my "MacSAC" utility, or my "ODAT Tracker" app for iPhone.  Both will keep you on top of the action.  MacSAC even allows you to set keywords so you'd only get alerted for "Watea 84" if you want.

My two cents. Watea 84 in 184cm is not a handful.  Have skiied both sizes, 176cm a bit quicker, but 184 is  more stable, but the general character of the ski stays the same.  If this is going to be your soft snow/crud/powder ski, the 184 will be a better length anyway.  Don't be afraid of the longer length with this ski.

Edited my earlier post per your suggestion.

I just skied Watea 94 at 186cm on groomers in the east and they were great.  I bought them for powder out west but I like them on groomers better than my Head Monsters.

I picked up the 84's in 184 size this year.  Moved up from Nordica Hot Rod's in a 170, and Fischer RX8 in 170.  I was concerned with length until I ran them the first time and now I wonder if I will ever ride the 170's again.  They are awesome and quick on groomers.  They float like a feather in powder.  BTW, I am your height but a bit heavier.   I wouldn't worry about the 184's, I am sure you will love them.

You don't need a mac.  Go to the alerts tab on tramdock and there are some tools (sidebar gadget or destop app) that will keep you up to date on their sales.
