I'm new here. I figure I'd go to a place where people have addictions similar to mine. The "Boot fitter in LA" question got me off the sidelines.
Recently I bought a pair of "The Ski" Nanos, sagebrush and all. Then that lead to buying a Marker binding mounting jig and a NOS (new old stock) pair of Scott Boots. (just made my own liners using Scott's as patterns, turned out better than expected)
I see the stuff at prices so low it puts a monkey on my back and I can't get them out of my head. It seems like a second childhood thing. Equipment that I couldn't afford or find when it was new. I've always been good with my hands so I do most all of my own tuning and repairs. The more I succeed at reconditioning the more confident I get at taking on old equipment projects most would consider garbage. I just finished a set of Olin Mark IV Comps. Cosmetics were kind of beat but the base was still factory new thick. At $15 I got lucky. I've always wanted a pair.
This site will give me a place to post photos of old gear and literature that I have gathered over the years. I've seen the cool stuff some of you have posted here. I've felt guilty on not sharing what I have somewhere with someone. Now I've got that place.
I have a weakness for all things Bobbie Burns "The Ski" related at present. (You'll see........... I need HELP brother!) It all started with a pair of white "The Ski" Scott poles that I purchased new back in the late 70's. then Blue and Yellows and on and on.
Oh I might need some help in "someone talking me in off the ledge" as it were. I'm mounting new bindings and actually going to try and ski this old stuff. I don't think I'll lean on them all that hard........ NOW, that is........Yeah, but wait till I'm at the top of a run. All reason and logic usually runs away from me.
