How much skiing has changed

I'm getting back into skiing after about 8 years away from the sport.  I grew up in NH, skiing every mountain in NH and VT.  Having 20 plus years skiing and racing, I thought I had seen it all.  Now in the last 8 years since I have actively skied, since we started a family and moved to the Southwest, I can't believe the sport.

Skiers are doing stuff now that was thought impossible just 8 years ago.  I mean all the park stuff, the half pipe, the jumps.  It's crazy to see.  Man am I that old, or has skiing gone into overdrive with the advancement of what is being done today?

Sawyer. I remember numerous times building jumps to the side of trails at a few different ski areas with my friends and a few runs later the mountain crew would be there with their shovels dismantling them. Now they build them for you. Big ones!

The more things change, the more they stay the same....

Kev, exactly!  Man I hate to sound old or like my parents, but come on man!  I would have loved to had a shot at doing all the cool stuff.  I can't wait for the x-games in a month to see what kind of sick stuff the athletes do this year.  I mean they are already going so high, and doing unthinkable things.

Doing a helicopter made you the man on the mountain 15 years ago, now you have to do it with a flip and land backwards.

Just think back to the 70s and the ski "dancing" competitions.  That was pushing the envelop back then.

T, yea I had a pair of Rossi Ballet ski's, man those were fun to jump with, only 160's and super light and flexible.
