Mid-Fat Rocker?

Is there a midfat ski that has a conventional side cut plus a little bit of a turned up tip so that the hard snow skiing length and geometry is a little shorter than the soft snow contact length? Seems to me like an easy way to design a more versatile ski.

yea there are quite a few of these skis, in fact most ski companies make one. For example: K2 ObSethed, Volkl Gotama (09 ski), Salomon Shogun (not much of a rocker),

hope this helps

Thanks for the reply but these are all 100+ under foot - I'm looking for something in the 80mm-90mm range that can be skied on the front side. I do not need the 100+ width. 85 in powder works just fine for me.

This year's Rossi S3 is 128/98/118 and has rocker. K2 has the Hardside at 131/98/119. Those are the smallest rockered skis I know of...but I'm sure someone will chime in with others.

Edit: Also, there's the Moment Rocker at 114-92-114.

Surface has a rockered park ski that looks to be in the 80s, but I don't think that's what the OP is looking for.

the armada alpha 1 and alpha 2 are rockered but they are also a park ski. maybe you can demo them and see how they do.

I don't think they make a rockered powder ski in that width range

out of the skis that have been suggested the Moment Rocker seems to be the best, but  i think it might be a park ski because it has a symetrical shape

I've been hearing very good things about the new S3.

S3 and Kung Fujas are the obvious candidates.

However, well designed rockered skis preform a wee bit differently than conventional cambered designs. I'm convinced you can safely go a fair bit wider. However, I'm also convinced 85 is not in the realm of "works fine" in powder for 99% of folks out there ;)

older k2 seths were mid 90 width with mini rocker in the front...

Try the Salomon Lord.  Yes, it's barely a rocker in the tip, but it does fit your 80-90 width requirements and I would say that it also does ski shorter on the frontside due to the rocker and upturned tail.
