Park City or Canyons for children / beginners

Thread Starter

We're taking a trip to PC in January and would like some advice on where to ski.  I am a 7/8 but most of the time just like to cruiseon groomers.  My wife and two girls (ages 7 and 8) are beginners, having only skied a week last year (Vail).  Deer Valley is not an option as we're skiing with a boarder.

Is there a clear winner between the two?  Everything I read about the Canyons makes me think:  (1) they layout is terrible and (2) there's very limited beginner terrain -- and, where there is beginner terrain, my kids are going to have to do some walking in the flats.

I really liked Vail -- secluded beginner area with greens branching off to other lifts.  There, I could go to the top of a mountain with one of my daughters and take a green back to the ski school without hitting any intimidating terrain.  It looks like the Canyons doesn't have much in the way of beginner terrain -- but, it's hard to tell from a map.  The thought of carrying my kids down terrain they can't quite handle yet isn't very appealing.

Any advice is much appreciated.

The Canyons is not as bad as you characterize for beginners, Park City is definitely better with more and longer options.
