I think the logic of skis off on a flat area is that if you land a little off center, you won't have the skis hitting crooked and twisting a knee or ankle. You can roll forward of your ski boot, but not of your ski tip.
In terms of skis on, if the snow is good below, try to make a good jump out of it, like he said^^^^
Although I brought up something about cable bounce, that seems to be a matter of location and technique for letting loose. Cables have to stay on fairly well, on big new lifts, or we'd all have been in trouble long ago, based on wind and assorted mishaps.
looking back on this thread, it astounds me how people twist what one says and then chastise and criticize based on the distorted statement (post) they have made up.
