Unexpected early-season powder day at Vail

On Sunday, we took a visiting friend from NYC to Vail, not expecting anything more than the bullet-proof, washboard conditions we'd had at Breck on Saturday. It was snowing when we got up, and by mid-day it was DUMPING; Vail got 8", mostly between about noon and 4 PM. I won't say it was "epic", but it was close. We blasted down the Northwoods Express lift line over and over again (did I get this year's first jump of the cliff?  Maybe; there were no tracks). Last run, we bumped down Riva Ridge in absolutely perfect conditions (driving snow notwithstanding). What a great early-season treat! We went again Monday, and they'd opened most of the high front-side XX terrain, including North Rim, Prima top to bottom, and Prima Cornice.  Conditions were FAT.  Sorry, no pics.  I was too busy ripping it up!
