Marker Duke - Size Large

post #1 of 14
Thread Starter
I've been given a great offer on a pair of Duke's size L for my new Nordica Girishs. The problem I have is that the sole length I have on my boots are 306. Technically it would work according to the spec. (305 and upwards) but does anyone have any feedback on this in real life - pros & cons?! Ideally I would need a pair of Small ones but it would be great if I could use the Large ones :-)

Sell the large ones and buy the cheap smalls from the evogear outlet (wait for a good daily coupon to come up and you can pick them up for under 300)

^^^ I agree.

I spoke with a guy in the gondola at Kicking Horse this weekend who had large Dukes and a pair of boots with a BSL of 306mm.  He said that he bought the skis and binders second hand hoping that the minimum of 305mm would be close enough and that his boots would fit.

I guess he pre-released 3 times in one run because he couldn't get the Dukes to hold his boots in place.

Hope this helps.

Don't do it.  Get the larges.

And I have the small Dukes on my Blizzard Argros, takes BSL to 325mm.  My Garmont Adrenalines are 327mm and even though the forward pressure looks correct, they didn't release properly.  Lucky to get away with only a minor strained knee.  In other words, just get the correct one.

@jondrums,
did you mean that he should get the smalls? If not, I would be interested to hear your reasoning. I have received the advice that, in general, one should get the smaller size Duke/Baron if possible. I do not have a strong opinion on this, just curious.

@Taxman,
Not to get too far off the main thread, but I believe that the FR16/Duke bindings for the Blizzard skis can be adjusted to a large or small and fit a range of bsl from 265mm to 365mm.

My apologies in advance if you have the newer Blizzard that allows for any binding.

I have a pair of duke smalls and I need large. If you still have them and they are only slightly used Ill trade.

The IQ/Duke binding offered on the original Blizzard Titan Agros came in two sizes - large and small, which coincided with the sizes of Dukes made by Marker for flat skis.  Unfortunately the small IQ/Duke fitted my Lange boots, which is what I was using when I bough them, but not my Garmont Adrenalin boots when I tried to use them.  Things may have changed for later releases (I know the IQ track is wider).

Hey, I know this is a long shot, but if you still have those Larges, I would love to trade you for my Smalls.  I'll throw in some cash too.  My new Black Diamond Methods are 3mm too long for them, and I don't want to take any risks, thanks.

Would love to; I'm currently in Oz, but will be in Tahoe in Janaury for a couple of weeks.  Send a PM.

Where are you guys with small Dukes located? I've got larges used about 15 days in great shape, but I'd rather trade in person, or at least in country (Canada) to verify the condition. PM me.

I've got a question about the bsl difference between the small and large dukes. I got a new boot with a bsl of 322 and from info I see the max bsl is 320 and yet my boot fits in my small duke with a few adjustment clicks left over. The Marker web site says that the small goes to a 325 bsl. Is that just for the new dukes? I think mine are 09, they are white and copper. Thanks for any help clearing this up.

The spec says 325, but smalls can take 327 with a DIN sole, but not with a tech sole (touring boots) according to my research. 322 you are A-OK.

I also have large dukes and need smalls from this years model.  If anybody wants to trade let me know.
