Anyone know of any skiing apps out for android/google phones yet?

Gear mentioned in this thread:

Actually yes.  The Best App i have see so far is Aspen Snowmass App.  BY FAR!!!!!  I used this yesterday and it does everything I want it to do.  Fast and great graphics.  The Maps are by far the best i have seen.  the Detail when zoomed in is crystal clear and had my location perfect.  I hope other resorts use this App for their mountains.

Are there any apps that show g's generated along with speed?
Snowedge does exactly that. It shows g-force and speed graphs, and more. There is also a score for each run, somehow connected to your skiing "level".

You should check out the Ripxx Ski App. It lets you see where you are, where you need to be, and what you are doing. The Ripxx ski app includes mapped out resorts; GPS tracking; recorded stats like speed, distance, and vertical drop; and trails color coded by difficulty. Compare, share, and save your runs for bragging rights straight from your phone. Finally, the proof you want from a day of shredding.

With the Ripxx Ski and Snowboard App you can:

-View full maps from over 200 of the nation’s most popular ski resorts
-Get instant feedback from your run
-See your exact line through Google Maps
-Find trails color coded by difficulty
-Track time, speed, distance, and vertical drop
-Save runs and compare later
-See where you are, and how to get where you are going
-Find ski lifts and other resort options

Paper maps and stop watches are a thing of the past. Get everything you need straight from your cell phone. For the first time ever, you can leave the slopes with proof. Get the Ripxx Ski App from the company who brought you the original sports measurement device, and prove just how extreme you really are. Ripxx is an official sponsor of Teton Gravity Research, the US Bobsled and Skelton Federation and the US Canoe Kayak teams.IMG_0014.pngIMG_0019.pngRipxx iPhone as Smart Object-3.pngIMG_0012.pngWebsite screen shot.jpg

I haven't yet found an all-in-one skiing iPhone app. I've found some good ones, but they lack all the local resorts, proving to be near useless.

Few questions about your app:

Anywhere we can see a list of the 200 resorts? Any trail map GPS tracking (SkiMaps App does this great, but limited resorts), or only Google Earth view?

Any Ripxx deal for EpicSki members? biggrin.gif

like that viwe2ski.

too bad they dont have kirkwood as they have a live cam. you could be skiing somewhere else and watching the snow fall in kirkwood.

Not sure what you mean by GPS tracking on trail maps? The Ripxx app has GPS tracking on all of the resort maps. Our resort maps have color coded lines as seen in the screenshots that tell you where ski runs and lifts are, and they are color coded for easy identification. The app also records your stats and saves your runs so that you can view them later.

I've got Satski for my iPhone.  SatsportsNA released it in April up here in Whistler, after Android, BB and Winmob.  It's pretty cool, and they're integrating this year with Facebook and Twitter and re-developing their analytics to include the iPhone which is pretty cool - let's you log every day, including every run, to your computer.  I've heard rumours they've also got a kick-ass Mountain Bike Park app for release in the spring.  Check it out at www.satsportsna.com.

Maprika is a new app that shows your location on a "real" ski trail map. It shows your friends too, if they let you see them. Check it out, it's free!

For skiing technique - try Ski Scool: www.skiscoolapp.com.

Great HD video clips to watch on the chairlift

Bumping this thread, as I have now joined the iPhone-mesmerized zombie horde. Best skiing app?

Any one use Ski Tracks??

A basic version is free to try and a more enhanced is only 0.99 IIRC (I got the base version several yeras ago so pricing may have changed)

It is similiar to Walk Traker, DB Tracker, Run Keeper and others

Basic version, turn it on inthe morning - it keeps track of(metric/imperial) max speed, avg speed, ski distance and ascent.  Tracks vertical, altitude, runs. slope and duration with lat and long -automtically recognizes the resort you are at.  Gives graphs of altitude changes, speed changes and if you take pictures can tell you where you took them.

You can set it for boarding, sledding, skiing and xcountry skiing. You can record the weather - ie sunny cloudy etc as well as the snow conditons.

Basic version will only save 4 tracks (days) of skiing but you can back up to itunes folder and onto your computer.

I don't have the enhanced version so can't tell you what all it does

Cheers

J

I use Ski Tracks and it's a hell of an app for only $0.99. I'm fairly certain they no longer offer a free "basic" version as I don't recall ever coming across a free version when I was researching ski apps last season when I originally downloaded it.  I really like the fact that it doesn't need a constant connection to the mobile internet in order to keep saving all of your data. This helps save your phone's battery and it's convenient for places like the backside at Kirkwood where I seem to never be able to get any cell service at all. I would highly recommend Ski Tracks, but I've never really tried any of the other apps out there.

There is a free Ski Tracks Lite, can't export to Google earth. I'd that is worth $0.99.
