How to choose Ski Skate gear for a beginner?

I tried ski skating years ago in college and now I want to get my own gear so I can get out and get exercise as an alternative to snowboarding.  I want to do it somewhat on the cheap, so what do I need to know to purchase skis, boots and poles?  Ideally I would find a great deal on used equipment. Advice on what I should be looking for? I am a woman who is 5'9", 140 and pretty fit.

do a google search on just that ''skate skiing for beginners''...i'm sure that there are plenty of great online resources and associations...if you're in vancouver bc, check out sigge's xcountry shop.

once you know what you want try craigslist or if you join a skate assoc i'm sure that there is also a buy/sell division, too, for people wishing to upload/download their gear

Unfortunately, I have not found a good site for info for beginners wanting to purchase equipment. Please let me know if you have one in mind.
