To start with, Warren miller didn't sell his name to WME. He created WME. He then sold it to his son, expecting his son to carry on the tradition and run the company. Warren intended to continue to contribbute both as an icon and a voice; and artistically. His son sold out to Time Warner for quick cash. Warren continued to contribute. Time Warner sold to Bonnier. Bonnier has told Warren to butt out, they don't want him in the films. He didn't quit because he was getting too old, and as far as writing his biography, he has been writing, drawing, painting, sailing, making sailing and surf movies aslong as he has been making ski movies.
WME had no case against Level One, as they do not have an agreement with WME. Warren stepped in because he respects what Level one is doing. Warren is not making movies, or making money from movies. WME is trying to keep an icon of our sport from even appearing in someone else's film. If I wanted to make a biography of Warren, would WME step in and try to prevent it? Probably, given this behavior on their part. Bonnier, byt he way, is the owner of Ski and Skiing magazines. Which I also urge people to boycott.
So, good on you for trying to find out what's going on, but dig a little deeper next time.
