SKI-ABLE CHUTE? ( Image of 'Red Dog')

This is shot from the chair, tower in lower left corner. for scale, those bushes are 8' tall. the chute with this early season coverage is about 6' wide at the choke. the crux, a steep straight line, is just around the corner.  Is it gnarly looking? It's average 45 degrees.

sometimes it's ski the chute or drop the cliff. tough place to be.

Which resort is this picture taken from?

it's from squaw.

i feel like i've seen it done... can't remember if it was scott or shane.

i kinda have a vague memory of sidestepping my way in and out of there myself once (not skiing it).

enjoy the first storm dav... hope it hits hard.  looks like i'll be in 'bama thru new years.

like i was told the first week i moved to tahoe:

was it billy-goated or straight-lined?

of course the bushes would be gone and the chute smoother and wider with the requisite 6 feet of snow.

still, tight spot.

snowing lightly right now, 16 degrees. this coming on a faceted wind affected old snow layer, but the next storms should be bigger and warmer and just make one giant cohesive layer (slab). It will be a year to be smart.

my memory is of seeing someone nuke out of the bottom at high speed... i was sitting on the chair where the picture was taken from.  it gets much more doable with more snow, but very few people (that i know) ride red dog once KT opens.

i see things are finally underway at squaw.... go get some dav, and let me know how it goes.

this will be one of the first storms i've missed since 1999.... i missed a few last year due to injury and have missed a couple xmas storms, but that's it.

I saw quite a few day or two old tracks on it today.  Probably since kt22 wasn't spinning yesterday after the storm...

that would be with the 2nd storm layer. I'll have to check that out. if snow doesn't cover it tonight, which I actually hope.

yesterday the entire population was on Red Dog / Squaw Crk so every line got skied, twice! so, how were the tracks?
