books/videos for the novice skier eagerly skiing 3-4x week and wants to improve?

trying to ski 20-30 days this year to ramp things up.

i have a season's pass to cypress and have been going each day this week thus far (off on 3 wks vacation)...trying to do both downhill and skateski practice while at cypress (since I love skate skiing too..but suck at it as it's new)...am told for downhill that while I'm not a beginner ['m not an intermediate either... so would this be a novice? (I mostly parallel....i stick to greens and easier blues...steeps and speed still toss me).

my goals for this season to try to get to a comfortable intermediate level....am going to whistler for ski esprit in mid Dec for 5 days ...so trying my best to get my butt in gear and minimize that opening season leg burn (doing lots of exercises at gym too: cycling, polymetrics, bosu ball balancing, downhill running etc)

this all said, and i know it's a matter of ski as often as possible, and then take some lessons from a pro for feedback every so often, but are there also any useful books/videos for the novice skier trying to become a very good intermediate?

I just got the series, and went through the advanced balance DVD.  I can only offer observations on that DVD:  Excellent exercises, a nice progression, consistent with a lot of the best exercises I've done in racing clinics, well explained and illustrated.  (And kind of cool to watch while kneeling on a balance ball and trying to take notes--a pretty fair balance exercise itself.)

The author, Rick Schnellman, who posts here regularly, always makes sense (which would differentiate him from me and perhaps a few other people) and has a lot of knowledge and experience, which is a plus.

I'm going to get on snow for the first time in almost a year this weekend, and am looking forward to trying the exercises out.
