Marker Piston Plate Question

I recently bought some marker plates off ebay and as I was inspecting them, I accidentially pulled the piston apart spilling the fluid inside.  What type of fluid do I need to refill the pistons with, and did I  ruin them before I even had a chance to mount them?

Someone correct me if I am wrong. But, I hate to break it to you I think your plates are toast. I am pretty positive that those pistons are meant to remain sealed. I have marker piston plates on my skis and I do not know how you manged to pull them apart. Sometimes it is better not to mess around with some stuff (not meant to come off as a jerk).

Way to ruin Piston plates ya fool. Were they atleast the old crappy 2005 ones?

so i took the aforementioned plates and pistons to my buddy who's an engineer-type and works with all sorts of hydraulics and what not.  He was able to clean em out, add some fluid and get em resealed for me.  Who knows if they'll be as good as from the factory, but at least i didn't completely waste em.

Good for you.  Now you can tweak them by changing to a heavier or lighter weight fork oil if you 're not satisfied with their damping qualities.

I have those plates under my Markers. I could never tell the difference between 'on' or 'off'.

? There is quite a difference between skis with it and without it. Last year I got the chance to be on two different sets of Blizzard SL skis at an end of the year race. The ones with the plates didn't snap back as much coming out of turns.

No, but I do remember drifting around bumpy corners on my streetbike (Honda 750 Interceptor, tiny front wheel, air-pogo-stick rear shock).  Does that count?

Absolutely! Just asking in dirtbikes we change oil weight and amount to change the front end rebound characteristics.

I am out of Columbus Ohio, we have the Vintage dirt bike races near here at Mid Ohio. Your bike is beautiful. KTM man myself.
