Anybody with more than 500 posts on epicski.com.  The more post the greater the gaper.

Gaper: someone who has the attitude (or worse yet, tells others) that they are an expert.

A space between what is real and what is in your mind.

Geez, then maybe this is correct. After all, this definition could describe so many of the aspirants in these forums... Because it sure seems like most of the wannabe's around here try to make their $0.02 worth a buck! But as long as they have an audience, they'll keep spouting....

Gaper = CHAOS

A gaper is the dude wearing jeans and a starter jacket (sports teams) skiing  on terrain over their heads.  They flail around in a strangely  rythmic spasm.  It kind of resembles a whole body seizure.  Sometimes you may see these specimens in the "antler tuck"  position ( a race crouch, poles unders their arms, the  points above their  head like antlers)The starter jacket and jeans is interchangeable with wind pants and Nascar or Marlboro gear.   I have seen many sights over the years.  Gapers are sometimes dangerous and unpredictable, but always entertaining.
Another possible example is the twice a year yuppie couple who wears matching ski gear, right down to the skis and goggles.   They usually look better than they ski.  Ski areas love this specimen as they spend freely.  Often times the yuppie gaper has the next generation in tow, the future yuppie snowboarder.  They often travel in packs.  You can identify this specimen by their colorful plaid Burton Jackets, pants, hats and snowboards.

My personal favorites are.......the bon jovi dude with full length leather duster, jeans, cowboy hat and pink 1980's dynastar skis.
full length leather duster, cowboy hat, enough said

And Mr. pink Spider everything.  I call him the abominable yeti.  This shot was taken when I encountered the gaper species on the lift.  Crickies!

With the holidays here the gaper, poser, and hardcore bro-brah, and all their blowby offspring and variants, can soon sit down together.  They're really branches of the same tree.

Sometimes the same person.  .

It is not becoming. It is being. You either are a gaper, or you are not.

Didn't you leave already?  "Nothing worth reading here anymore",  "...aspirants spouting, blah, blah, blah...", etc., etc.

I think it was a few years ago when you started  a very special thread anouncing your departure from Epicski and I believe I responded with  "Don't let the door hit your ass on the way out." It seems your fat ass is still in the way of the door. Move on.

I think he means people who say things like:

Number of days I ski in a year:

more than most!

Terrain or conditions I like to ski the most:

Anything long, steep, and gnarly!

VSP has a lot more to offer this community than I do. I wish he would stop dragging it down with negative comments.
