Thanks in advance for reading this thread.
I moved from Toronto (ontario) to Calgay (near banff) a couple of years ago. I never used to ski bumps in Toronto, just straight groomers and upon arriving in Calgary exclusively skied powder.
Last year I Purchased a pair of Volkl Mantras (177 with 96mm width I believe). They are absolutely wonderful in powder and excellent on groomed trails but an absolute nightmare for me in the bumps.
I'm essentially a beginner when it comes to the bumps, feels like i'm completely out of control and can barely link 2 turns. Seems like its extremely difficult to turn in tight spaces with the skis (i'm thinking it is probably either me or the width of the ski?).
Anyway what i'm looking for are suggestions on what kind of ski would be best suited for learn how to ski the bumps properly, and can someone confirm that i'm right in my assumption that learning to ski bumps with a 96mm wide ski is a real bad idea?
Stats just incase its relavent:
