This applies mostly to Skivisions sharpeners with the steel blade:

If your skis have a substantial amount of camber or curvature in the center, there is the possibility that the blade will skip as the planer passes the lowest point of the ski and begins to come 'out' of the hole.

a) adjust your vises and clamps so that the camber/ curvature is as low as you can get it.


b) work down to the low point  (tip to center and tail to center, for example) if the remaining curvature is significant over the length of the planer  (waxable Karhu users!)
