I have found that to get the most out of any of the Nordica Smartech boots, you need to get high grade potting soil.

Take out the liner and fill the empty space with good quailty potting soil. Then most any plant will flourish in these conditions. Do not forget to place the boots where your plants will receive fresh air and sunlight. Water as needed, and you will find that the Smartech makes an excellent flower pot.

Canting is only necessary if you will be growing some type of clinging vine.

Good luck with your new internet boot purchase.

I think what Jim is trying to say is that this is a price point boot intended to be inexpensive, comfortable, and convenient.  This type of boot is NOT performance oriented.  It should be easy to get in and out of and easy to walk in however, if you have aspirations to ski well and have good control over your skis, there are better choices.
