says, three to four days is a good rule of thumb. Less time if it's really cold, more if it's just around the freezing point. The guns can crank out a lot more snow at 20 degrees than they can at 30. Humidity plays a big factor too; drier air makes it easier to make snow, higher humidity inhibits it, although once the temps are low enough the humidity is not as much of a factor.
BTW, a rough rule of thumb as that the resort can make snow if it's below 28 degrees F. Look at the weather forecast and you can see if the snowmaking gear is going to be cranked up.
