OK normally this would be no big thing.  However Lookout Pass Ski area opened last week and it is about the only place open here.  Nice early start this yeat.  About 27 inches and yep small area but made some turns even had some powder skiing.

5 min before opening today - friday.

1st run of the day, about 5 in of powder not too bad.  Crowded too.

Teledancer.  We didn't hit any rocks eetc.  but there were a few trees sticking up.

Anyway, off to an early start and making some turns. And oh yes the Moosedrool is still good in the bar.

Nice Pete, I often wondered about that place.  Had my first turns today too, but it wasn't powder.

Yes, good going Pete.

Lookout is a a cool little mountain.  Kind of like Monarch, a very under rated and overlooked powder mountain.

It is small 3 chairs but some decent skiing, especially since it is the only area open.  Out group has some pretty good runs that we have assisted with some brush cutting but need more snow for these custom runs.  Lookout is closed Tue and Wed so have some pretty good powder days on Thursdays.  Fun day today.

I met a few patrollers from Lookout at an ISSW a few years ago.  I drove past it later that year on my way to ski Fairy meadows in BC, but it was closed for the season.  I would really like to ski there sometime.

Good to see you got an early start this year Pete. Looks like a great ski area. Save some beer for the out of towners. La Bachelor opened yesterday!

Ah, Pete. You make me soooo jealous! But I'll feel better in January.

All stove up after yesterday, hit a staub and went over the front to land on more staubs left back ribs are very bruised.  Pete and I body packed some of the danger spots down, should be safer now..

How come I'm always body packing the powder when Teledancer is nearby?  My skiing sucked but the Moosedrool pitchers were good.

Is it still just the front side open?  I went on Saturday a week ago.  Not bad for this early but got crowded by lunch.  Looks like they got more snow last night.

Yep, did some skiing under chair 2 and a hard L thru the trees and back on the road below Hootowl and did Mamot on 3 and butt slid to the freeway.

Website says 2 on  backside will open Thanksgiving day.  Snowed almost all day Sunday and getting better.

Moosedrool

Chair two skiing nicely but still a touch thin, out trolling for more bruises yesterday.

Hmmm.   Looks like a road trip on Friday.

Yesterdays weather really messed up the snow 1/4" of frozen crust today, turned the backcountry ski into a crosscountry hike. It's going to be groomers or nasty conditions tomorrow at Lookout.  Just a friendly warning.

I was there Sunday and it was dumping nicely. Hung out with some Montana kids who loved the trees there. The open runs were closed  on the far left looking up but  the trees weren't roped so we made the best of it.
The snow was nicely powdered but not real light around 20 degrees .  I had a nice superman fall down Niagara through the forest of baby trees as one grabbed by leg and took my ski from me. Good fun was had by all .
