I find different types of snow allow for different amounts of grip, either that or you need different skins. I haven't done a lot of skinning on my Barons, but the bar does not seem high enough. My Fritschis have 4 different heights which I can change easily on the go with my ski pole. I am constantly changing the height, but find myself in the highest setting most of the time. I really don't have legs of steel or the lungs of a whale, although I do have the heart of a humming bird

I see that some people here are not familiar with AT binding crampons for direct fall line climbing on hard snow, although I don't think Maker makes one for the Duke or Baron.
I have often thought about getting those, but what I've read doesn't seem like they work that great. Any recomendations for Fritschi's. Usually if it's that hard I just pack the skis & use regular boot crampons.
