How to shorten poles

I would like to know how I would shorten my poles. They are Scott Division series aluminum poles. What do I do to take the grips off and then cut them down the length i want?

Thanks

I've done a few and found it very easy.  I started by dunking the grip ends in very hot water (~180*) for thirty seconds or so IIRC.  Then the grips slide off without much fuss.  Then I took a pipe cutter (hack saw would work too) and made the appropriate cut.  I put the grips back on at room temp.

bump, neat tip on the handles, I prefer a sawzall for cutting.

Are there no longer plugs in the top of the pole (inside the tube) that accepts a screw that holds the strap/grip in place?  If there is one, you'd want to move that from the cut section to the remaining part of the pole.

I probably should have noted that I've only done this with Scott and Leki poles so ymmv.
