I got my wife on skis for the first time last season.  She's still a level 2, but she loves it.  Our 4 year old daughter is going to be on skis for the first time this winter, and we've decided to go ahead and buy her some gear for christmas.

We're looking at boots, and we found these "growth spurt" boots online.  (I know they're for boys, I just picked a random link.)  Basically, they come in ranges, and this particular boot can be sized anywhwere from a 16 to an 18.  You size the boot to match the kids foot, hopefully preventing having to buy boots every season.  They're about the same price as regular boots.

Anyone have any experience with them?   Do the kids have trouble learning in them since they're most likely not going to be the most precise fit?
