Best Skiing Resort in Europe for Nightlife

 Hi everyone,

What is your favourite ski resort in Europe for nightlife? We were in Chamonix last year, and although great skiing and great food, wasn't equally happy with the nightlife. Right now, we are more inclined to go to St. Anton, but new ideas are very much appreciated.

Thanks a lot

Evren

St Anton, Val d'Isere, Tignes, Saalbach in that order.

I don't have as much experience as Fox, but I concur on St Anton. Verbier was pretty hopping when I was there. Zermatt is pretty quiet at night, as are most Italian resorts. Austria is hard to beat for apres. Iscghl , for example, from what I've heard.

BTW, I think most European skiers would agree that St Anton is hard to beat when you factor in the combination of skiing, atmosphere and nightlife. Hard to beat anywhere, really.

Just remember... apres ski in St Anton starts on the slopes - in the Mooserwirt ( http://www.mooserwirt.at/ ) or Krazy Kanguruh ( http://www.krazykanguruh.com/ )

Then we have...

The Sennhutte – further up the slope than the Moos/KK

Taps – beside the KK, but quieter

After those four, there's the following bars in town:
Scotty’s,
The Funky Chicken, Bar Cuba,The Underground / Black Hole, Bobo’s, Piccadilly / Postkeller, Kandahar, Stanton, Platzl bar, Hotel Post Igloo, Anton Café

Guys,

Thanks a lot for the information.  I will give St. Anton a try.  Looks like it's the place my friends want...

Have a good one.

I hated it as a little kid, ski school was run by a Nazi. But since I started going back to St Anton a few years ago, my conclusion is that just about anyone will gave a great time there.

It depends a bit on what you want out of your apres/nightlife, too. After about an hour, I just can't listen to any more of the music that you usually get in most ski bars in Austria. My head just wants to explode. I'd rather have a live band playing (no matter how bad, really) followed by some decent music on the loadspeakers.

I was very pleased in Chamonix. Chambre Neuf was just about perfect for my needs.

The lower prices in Austria are a plus, though ...

Saalbach or Obertauren both have large skiing territories and the nightlife pretty much rocks.  Both have a multitude of differing venue's (some relaxed and some 105% party).  As with others, the party starts on the hill in many cases and then works it's way into town as you progress into the evening. Both are reasonably priced
