The coach of the Australian national track cycling team is a strong advocate of hopping on one leg from the ground to a raised platform. I think it's a great exercise. It works on fast twitch hypertrophy, balance, symmetry and dynamic power. Of the Olympic quality athletes, the top men can do 40" and the women 36".
I am not a coach, perhaps others can comment on the appropriateness of this for high schoolers.
-- I am editing this post to re-order it, because I don't want the "I am not a coach" lead in to scare people away. I think this is a good subject for discussion and I didn't intend to kill the thread.
