What's wrong with this boot?

I've read a lot of posts advocating that a modern boot performs better than boots from the "straight-ski" days.  I would like to understand, so I'm asking, "What's wrong with this boot?" (other than the fact that I still have a few fitting issues to work out), and, "What advantages would a "modern" 1009-2010 vintage boot have over it?"

Posting duplicate thread in gear section for non-bootfitters, just in case anybody else cares to offer an opinion.

Other than the fact that it is 25 yars old and you still haven't worked out fit issues and it is absolutely the ugliest boot anyone ever manufactured and leaves you open to ridicule, scorn and snichers behind your back,  I would say nothing.

and of course the likelyhood that if you even attempt to stretch it or take it out on a cold day it may well explode, nothing at all

Thanks for the exploding issue warning.  It will be interesting to see if my eventual demise is caused by the old 490 bindings on the SGs, the markering out on my völks (when I get around to putting bindings on 'em), or the exploding boots.

That plastic seems to hold up better than the cheap Nordica plastic on my wifes old boots, which exploded in the parking lot one day.  The shell stretching's been done, I just need to cut up the liners a bit.  I had put them aside and started over from scratch with a new pair long ago, but you know how one can't quite keep one's self from tinkering at old projects.

However the question I'm trying to understand is what would be better about the design of a modern boot than an old boot with this design, not the plastic fatigue issue with this particular boot.

You can't really see much of the boots with my blue jeans covering them up.

When you are walking out of the back bowls in your liners enlightenment will be yours Ghosthopper.

Now I understand.  We are stuck in a time warp.  To seriously answer your question.  In my opinion, there are no differences that matter.

I have a '92 Caprice Wagon, and to help save on repair costs also a 2009 Pontiac Wave G3.
