I don't know WHERE the All New Posts "beta" page is, so I am not changing it. Are you talking about the Home page or what. I am definitely not flipping anything back and forth. It is happening as I go from the Home page into a thread then come out of it. I arrive at the Home page, it is in Summary view. I click a + sign. I use View Post or some other method to go into the thread itself (varies....I didn't know I could click on the title of the thread and go to First Unread Post, just learned that, that might have an impact..., was using Last Post and View Post). I then hit the Back arrow in Firefox to get back to the Home page. When I get back to the Home page it's in non-Summary view. I click Settings, re-check Summary View, the spinny thing goes around. Get the check boxes back. Find another thread. Click + sign, click View post, read through the thread, hit Back button, come back, back in non-Summary view again.
Firefox 3.5.4, XP service pack 3. I'll flush the cache, etc. I'll even try a different browser.

Can you verify that you're not changing that setting on the All New Posts beta page? The summary view setting is site-wide and will follow you from browser to browser because it's stored in your user profile (not in the browser). If you're definitely not changing it there, then I would recommend logging out, clearing your cache, then logging back in. Next, see if you can pay attention to what exactly you're doing just prior to the problem occurring again and let me know (what os/browser are you using? does it happening on different machines? if you use more than one...)
Thanks for helping troubleshoot this. I hope we can get to the bottom of things quickly.
