Here's the problem.. I still REALLY love the Salomons but am forever searching for something that I might like better because they are "not cool" They are older, pilot system, 912 bindings with the toe wings that rattle loose, prolink gadgets attached, etc.
They are still my number 1 front side carver ski in spite of having multiple highly recommended and rated newer "cool" skis to choose from.
I ski well on them:
I spread the feet a bit more when skiing steeper terrain or on wider skis, #2 favorite all around ski 179 cm Nordica W-80:
So, anyway this year I have a pair of Doberman GSRs and a pair of K2 PEs to ski. I am expecting really like the GSRs on hardpack and the PEs in crud. The downside of that is that the GSRs are also pretty old and really more of a rock ski (again, not cool). I also still like my 193 cm K2 Fours (99-00 model?)
Should it matter to me what the skis look like as long as I can still rip pretty well on them? I can't afford to drop $1200 on a pair of skis, and I might not like them more than what I already have anyway.
Does anybody else gravitate towards skis that aren't "cool"?
