Sweet.  I was looking for this in June and resorted to buying a VHS copy to burn to DVD.  This is much better digitally mastered.  I love the early helmet cam footage, but HATE the "who dun it" movie soundtrack.  I'd much rather hear some old 60s rock when they're flying down the course than something that sounds like there's an ax murder around the next curve.  How bout they trade sound tracks with Easy Rider?

Thanks a ton for the head's up.  I'll be replacing my currend DVD recording with this version this evening.

Seriously, I see this as a true classic and really enjoyed watching it.

I'm making a new DVD of this from the PVR.  If someone would like the DVD I made from the VHS tape shoot me a PM with your address info and I will send the other disc to the first Bear to provide me an address.  It is a bit grainy and might have a skip or two typical of a used VHS quality, but I hate to toss it in the can since this isn't available on DVD as far as I can tell.

FYI the movie is getting a Criterion Collection DVD release on November 17, 2009.  Lots of extras too.  No need to waste your time with conversions and such.

How many of you remember seeing this at the theater when it was first released in 1969?
I do, mainly because I had only first learned to ski the season before it came out.

Now I see MANY of the technical problems that can come from a small budget and seemingly no skiing  technical expert involved to catch all the thing that now drive me nuts to see.....

Still enjoy it anyway though

LOL, I was 5 years old and my parents have NEVER skied.  Funny that you mention this.  If I had seen that ag age 5 I might have never skied.  It took me months of youtube vids of toddlers skiing to un do the damage that I did to my kids from them watching my Warren MIller DVDs..  They were like that's skiing?  The didn't want to do that.. It looks way too scary.  I might have thought I would cetainy crash end up in the hospital like all those other skiers in the movie.  Now, watching it at age 9 or 10?  That would have been awesome!
