After the soiree I checked out the bindings thinking I could pick up a nice set for my buddy Doug who's looking for something to mount on his Watea 94's.
This is when it got really interesting.....
Me: I noticed you have a deal on the Solly 914. Do you have it in a color other than blue(noting that it wasn't a huge issue but the Watea would look better with the black or red solly)
Shop guy: Are you a racer
Me: This isn't for me, its for a friend who's mounting it on a Watea 94
Him: Is he a racer
Me: No, he just wants a good binding to put on his Watea, and I like the Solly 914
Him: Have you seen our Free Ride bindings?
Me: I really just want the 914, and I'll take it in blue if that is the only color you have for that price.
Him: That's a race binding and you really don't want to use that on a ski if you're not racing it
Him again: How wide is his ski.
Me: Its the Fischer Watea 94
Him: How wide is it
Me: Its 94
Him: No, I mean under foot, how wide is it?
Me: Its 94 under foot (at this point I'm wondering how many different ways I can say NINETY FOUR)
Him: Maybe he should bring it in here so we can take a look at what he's got and set him up with the RIGHT binding,
Me: Thanks for your help.
You may note, I was there willing and able to buy a binding that I know something about.
He sent a sale away because I'm a girl so I couldn't possibly know what I want.
