what is the purpose of the facemask? warming the rescued skier?
thanks for the advice.
I have this wierd feeling about wearing the beacon, like it means that I could be burried. I have to think of it like wearing a seatbelt or a helmet, like every fresh day without thought, or I get freaked. Anyone else have that vibe at first?

The best you can do is to try and avoid getting involved in an avalanche. The second best is to practice recovery and rescue techniques so you have some hope of being prepared. The thing most people I know overlook is to be prepared for a first aid situation and a patient who might not be breathing and will probably be in shock. Take a CPR and first aid class to go with your Avy and carry a facemask.
