Oh Baby - Jackson Hole Looks Awesome - Page 2

That's an awesome rainbow.
Would be a nice addition to my stock folder "rainbow over village near mountains section" (yes I actually have a folder with those pictures :P)
Can you email it to me?

Taco Bell Coulior marked in red.  I'll email this to anybody who wants it without the route line.

but anyway...

Noe stream at the bottom of the run.  I live in the condos just to the left of Taco Bell...the little yellow building in it's own parking lot.  I emailed this photo to Finndog last night.  This is about 3/4 of the way up.  The pitch changes and it is less steep.  The section right where I am standing could be considered the crux.

Bonus pic:

There are no poisonous snakes in JH.  We do have some smaller grass snakes.  Usually they are very small.  I passed this guy on the "trail" (or death scramble) up East Gros Ventre Butte.  That is the holster for my iPhone next to the snake.  It was cold so he couldn't move that fast so I was able to get this great pic.  This is the biggest grass snake I've ever seen in Teton County.  I don't even think I got all of his tail in the photo.  He was big... Well at least for here.

He needs to get in the ground quick or freeze.  Some Red Tail hawk is gonna make an excellent meal outta this guy.  It was one well fed grass snake.

Stephen,

Where's the 49er in relation to the taco bell---is it even in the pic---just trying to orient myself.

This is fun.  Allow me...

Using Skiing-In-Jackson's photo from the top of the "couloir", here's where the 49-er is:

And here are a couple of aerial photos that might help.  From the top with 49-er and Taco Bell (the actual restaurant) marked:

And from the top with the route of the Taco Bell Couloir marked in red.  The Taco Bell restaurant is at the bottom of the red arrowed line:

I've done a little research on the county records and the only way to do it without poaching anything is to boot up from S-I-J's property.  Any other attempt to get to it from the road involves crossing private property.

Just as background information.

Thanks Bob,

I remember seeing mule deer wandering around up on that hill side---they would come down and nuzzel your hand if you held it out to them--a hungry bunch we supposed.  Your pics were a great help.

Thanks

Heres a few rainbow pics from a few days ago.  I never saw a rainbow that low.  The pic I shot with my phone out the windshield doesnt do it justice.  It was like the whole horizon was involved.  I was super bright and super fat and one end was in Teton Village.
