Blizzard SLR magesium v Fischer Race SC pro

Thread Starter
Have been skiing on a  07/08 Fischer Race SC 170cm (non sidewall version). Thinking of moving to a 08/09 Fischer Race SC Pro 165cm or a  08/09 Blizzard SLR Magnesium IQ 167cm  . Any opinions out there on these 2 skis or suggestions. Also is the 09 Blizzard SLR any different to the 2010 SLR other than graphics?

Good question, I was wondering the same thing myself!

No, I haven't been on a Blizzard for quite a while.  What makes it so much better than and  how does it differ from the Fischer WC SC?

I owned the WC SC, it was a great ski for hard, smooth, icy surfaces but I didn't care much for it in any other condition. I've observed several individuals skiing the SLR last season in a variety of conditions and doing so almost effortlessly. For an every day ski, the WC SC was not my choice, I'm looking for a slalom ski that is less demanding, more forgiving and with some versatility. I feel the SLR or Race SC would be better choices. I've also purchased the new Nordica Spitfire Pro in a longer length (170) which is a little wider under foot.

I've never had a chance to ski the WC SC, but I have skied the SLR and liked it a lot.  I think it would do what you're asking very well.

Not to complicate your life or anything, but another ski that would be pretty similar in feel and performance to the SLR is the Head WorldCup iSL.

It's a really powerful ski that's not quite a demanding for everyday skiing as Head's race stock slalom ski.  Anybody who could drive an SLR as an everyday fun ski would probably also like the iSL.

I have the Blizzard Mag SL and LOVE it!
I really think Blizzard has amazing quality and construction.
Disclaimer: I don't have fischer experience to compare to, but.......IMHO you can't go wrong with the Blizzard MagSLR.
