I'm shopping for some new ski boots because my old ones are 30 year old Lange's that the local shop won't even take in on trade because their afraid the plastic would shatter if it got too cold outside. They were hand me downs from the beginning and weren't fit for me.
So, I've tried on a few different pairs of boots. I've been skiing for about 17 years and am about to get my son started this season. So, we'll be getting out a lot more than usual. I'm a semi aggressive skier and enjoy good rides that are executed well in good posture and form rather than how high i can get off the jump. I would categorize myself as an upper intermediate/advanced skier.
Anyway, my question/dilemma. I tried on a pair of Head Edge 10 (2008) boots and they fit well. 28.5 / 104 last / 70-80 flex. I'm about 5'11" 210lbs. I'm afraid, though, that they may end up too loose as they were pretty comfortable right from the beginning. I'm also a bit concerned that they may not be stiff enough. I've checked out the Edge 11's online and have considered this boot because it has a stiffer flex (80-90). I've also found an Atomic M100 boot online that I think might do the trick but, I'm really hesitant to buy something online without trying it on first. My only real risk here is shipping/handling if I need to return it but, it's the hassel and the point. Are the Atomic boots very different than the Head Edge 11? My biggest problem area with fitting in a boot is the top of the boot and how high it rides on my calf. Some boots feel like there's a rope around my upper calf that's cutting off blood circulation. I'm hoping that the Atomics don't fall into this category. Can you guys give me any input?
I appreciate the help.
