Not to 'defend' the Browns, but drafting a QB when the rest of the team is as bad as they were just gets you a QB with PTSD. Look at successful teams, they almost all found good QB's with later picks or were already good teams that lucked into a high draft pick for a QB due to tanking a season (Hi Colts!). Build the team then go get a QB, the other way round never works.

Redemption is served.  Seconds?

A couple of new guys on o-line and new faces in the secondary and linebacker is a "back-up" and a new commitment to getting after the quarterback.

It's lonely at the top.  First place Steelers.

What a difference a week makes.

They're bums again...

Cleveland remains perfect for the year.  You have no idea why that is scary in week 11.

That was ugly and even worse, Ben has a torn meniscus, surgery today and out for undetermined length of time. It could be even uglier against the Patriots next week,

It's going to be hard to stop the Patriots this year.  Their O Line seems to do poorly at times, but coaching seems to be able to figure out why mid game.

By the way, I meant to take a picture of this last week and post it.  I'll try to remember tomorrow.

On the block I work, just outside of Boston, a Steelers Jersey-Flag hanging outside of a house.

Here it is.  This is deep in the heart of Patriot's country.  Couldn't help but think of my epic Steelers fan friends.

Steelers Nation knows no borders.

To all the Penn State fans in Steelers Nation, what a great upset win against Ohio State. We are all hoping for another big upset this afternoon because the Patriots suck b**ls. Ok they don't suck b**ls they just suck the air out of b**ls that is when they are not dumpster diving or spying from the bleachers. I really think that Brady has the Steelers' number. The ball boys found it in the garbage can.

Are we cheating now? Is the game rigged?
Two dropped balls, maybe they're over inflated.

The Patriots won as I expected. They made the plays and the Steelers did not. I'd say the Steelers beat themselves with missed opportunities, penalties, coaching lapses (challenge of a catch, 54 yard field goal instead of going for it on a 4th and 2 when you need 11 points to win and late in the game, bad clock management) but again, the Patriots did not make the mistakes and made the plays to win.

As for the cheating issue, I thought that would have been dead after spygate but it seems to be ingrained in the organization; deflategate, digging in the other team's trash may not be illegal it really is underhanded and the constant issues with the opposing teams headset at Gillette. I know NE fans will never accept it but there is taint all over the organization and I will remind Patriots fans of that every chance I get.So did the Pats cheat? We will know the next time they're caught.

You really needed to stop at this. (it was fun reading the rest, angst is funny.)

Whiteroom, I was replying to a question posed by SMJ and I will decline to oblige your request that I censor myself. Yes angst is funny, the angst that will gnaw NE true believers because the dissonance has got to be deafening. You surely have to know somewhere in a corner of your mind that NE cheated for years and their whole winning era is tainted by that fact. Cheaters should not be rewarded. I will say it again and if you have any doubt about the consistency just look back through this thread. At one time I had tremendous respect for the Patriots. They were very talented, lead by a future hall of fame QB and future hall of fame coach. They appeared to be winners in every way. Then came spygate and my opinion changed toward Bellicheat and Krafty but I still admired Brady and gave him his due until we found out that he was at the center of deflategate and intimidated his staff to "properly prepare the balls." I have zero respect for the team and OB. So enjoy your victories and cherish your Super Bowl wins. They can never be taken back but yes angst is funny.

I will also say this for the record. If in the future it is found the the Steelers broke any rules that were in place at the time that gave them an unfair edge and appeared to have contributed directly to their wins I will hang my head in shame and never defend cheating because I believe sportsmanship is more important than winning at any cost.

The Steel Curtain pioneered steroid use in the NFL during the 70's, you don't think that "contributed directly to their wins"?

As far as I am concerned, the Steelers won those championships and shouldn't be discredited for cheating. Sorry you see it differently.

That was one hell of a game against OSU. My brother managed to move up from like row 45 to row 8 and was one of the ones who stormed the field.

Was not illegal, they were not the only ones who did it. It is since been banned and players now caught are disciplined. False equivalency. You are entitled to your opinion even if it is based on a sophistry.

Definitely not going to get too involved in this discussion but as to headsets my understanding is that this is a problem that happens to various teams at various venues.

OK SMJ except that the complaints are widespread and numerous about the faulty headsets at Gillette and I never heard an opposing team say that their headsets were receiving the home team's play by play broadcast in any other stadium.

One more thing about Whiteroom's steroid allegations. There has never been any evidence that the steroid use at that time was coordinated or condoned by the team's owners and coaching staff. I will concede it was a cheat but it was done by individuals. It would affect one on one match ups assuming that steroid use actually improved a players performance and not just physique therefore would be far more difficult to determine the outcome of a game compared to knowing another teams defensive set on a play by play basis. When the use of steroids and their effects become known they were outlawed. When individuals broke the rules they were punished. At least one Steelers player that I can remember was released due in no small part steroid use. That turned out very tragic as he later committed suicide after he tested positive for steroid use. An autopsy later revealed he also suffered from CTE.

So SMJ be involved in this conversation or not but I'm not the one driving it. I stated my opinion with my smack talk, you countered with with comments and questions and then Whiteroom chimed in and I responded to those comments. If NE fans would rather not face the issue then don't complain here about the opinions others have based on the actions of a team that lost draft choices, paid hefty fines, and had their star quarterback suspended for cheating. Those are the facts accept them or not I really don't care. Patriots are cheaters. That is not just my opinion. That is the opinion of the NFL and if you believe that for one second that Goodell acted unilaterally against his Krafty buddy without the consent of a majority of the NFL owners then I guess you are entitled to that opinion too.

That was a great win for PSU and the students pouring onto the field was great. I must admit I am a Pitt fan first, not that I ever attended Pitt but I am a life long resident of Western PA and the Pittsburgh area. I root for State when they are not playing Pitt. Too bad the students went overboard after the game. It was too much especially for a regular season win.

Hey LHC, it's only a game.  Much more important things going on right now to get worked up about, wouldn't you agree?

So a league suspension is proof of a misdeed?

Interesting... so the 6 game NFL suspension of Big Ben for sexual assault.... hmmmm.

How does rooting for a sexual predator feel? I would think it would feel kind of ickey.

Look, I am not going to convince you the Patriots are angels, you are not going to convince me that your dislike of the Patriots is justified or that your favorite franchise is run by angels. Neither are, the NFL is a dirty business, that is the way it is. The Steelers are a heck of a team and a heck of a franchise, honestly, I have nothing but respect.

Did I miss something? I only saw they stormed the field (which I think was warranted given that it was one of their biggest rivals who happened to be undefeated and the #2 team in the country while PSU wasn't ranked). Now if some other stuff went down when they were on the field I missed that.

No problems on field but later the kids went nutty in town and took to the streets and tore down several lamp post and carried them around like trophies. No sofas were harmed.:D

Steelers at 4-4 and not looking so promising this year.  Or maybe they're just faking everyone out waiting for the playoffs.   Let's just hope they don't wait too long.  I actually could see them account for the Browns first win of the season.

I like the NFL because every game is important.  Not like baseball..or hockey..

The Steelers are circling the toilet bowl about to be flushed by a defense that isn't and a coach that chooses to not live in his fears instead of his common sense not to mention kick returners and receivers who run a out of bounds without even being hit. Way to go AB, you gave up. I lost my respect for the "best receiver" in the league, just another selfish showboat. For the first time I'm beginning to doubt Tomlin. The only bright spot is the weak division we are in. We can still win it but this team is going nowhere in the post season if they make it. I thought they had the talent but now I doubt that. I will not be surprised if they lose to Cleveland.
